The textbook provides information on E. coli infections in children, presents current data on the biological properties of non-pathogenic and pathogenic E. coli, briefly highlights the virulent properties of pathogens and pathogenetic mechanisms for the development of escherichiosis in children. A diagnostic algorithm for escherichiosis is described here and issues of etiotropic therapy are discussed. It considers the issues of escherichiosis prevention and dispensary observation of the convalescents. To improve the effectiveness of training the textbook includes tests and keys. The information presented is a necessary addition to the “Pediatrics. A textbook for medical universities” (2019) for students studying in specialty 31.05.01 General Medicine (specialist level).
